PlayStation 4 owners can’t access Fortnite accounts on SwitchUpdate: Sony issues response, side-steps complaints around lack of cross-play and inability to access saved progressMatthew HandrahanEditor-in-ChiefThursday 14th June 2018Share this article Recommend Tweet ShareCompanies in this articleEpic GamesSony Interactive EntertainmentUpdate: Sony has addressed the widespread complaints about the lack of cross-play between the PS4 and Switch versions of Fortnite, and the issues PS4 owners have faced accessing their Epic accounts on Nintendo’s device. However, the statement (per The Verge) is unlikely to be welcomed by those affected, as it largely side-steps the reason why its customers feel aggrieved. Instead, Sony emphasised the size of the PlayStation 4 audience and the fact that Fortnite can still be played with PC and mobile users. Here’s the statement in full:””We’re always open to hearing what the PlayStation community is interested in to enhance their gaming experience. Fortnite is already a huge hit with PS4 fans, offering a true free-to-play experience so gamers can jump in and play online. “With 79 million PS4s sold around the world and more than 80 million monthly active users on PlayStation Network, we’ve built a huge community of gamers who can play together on Fortnite and all online titles. We also offer Fortnite cross-play support with PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices, expanding the opportunity for Fortnite fans on PS4 to play with even more gamers on other platforms.”Original Story: Sony is once again standing in the way of the industry’s drive towards cross-platform experiences, apparently preventing Switch users from accessing progress made in the PlayStation version of Fortnite.Speaking to The Verge, Epic Games PR rep Nick Chester said that the Switch version of Fortnite – which launched yesterday – will only support cross-play with, “Xbox One, PC, Mac and mobile.”Related JobsSenior Game Designer – UE4 – AAA United Kingdom Amiqus GamesProgrammer – REMOTE – work with industry veterans! Sony does allow cross-play with PC, Mac and mobile, but it doesn’t allow it for Xbox One, and the same is evidently true for Switch. In addition, PlayStation 4 owners who want to access their Epic account on Switch are being denied, due to most accounts being tied to a PSN username. The same is true for the Xbox One version, but it is arguably more egregious here due to the different use case the Switch presents: the ability to continue playing Fortnite on a portable device with good performance.Ultimately, this means that Switch users cannot access the progress, skins and emotes they have earned or bought through playing Fortnite on PlayStation 4. The message shown when an Epic account login fails states that, “neither the Fortnite website nor Epic Customer Service are able to change this” – see this image, from Kinda Funny’s Greg [email protected], fix this. Not allowing me to sign-in to Fortnite Switch with my Epic account because it’s linked to PS4 is tone deaf and points more to fear than market dominance. It does the opposite of what you want — it makes me think about moving to Xbox for Fortnite. pic.twitter.com/D9xqv9aWdF— Greg Miller (@GameOverGreggy) June 12, 2018

Arsenal completed the signing of the highly-rated 18-year-old this summer, paying Saint Etienne £27m for the privilege. The deal with the French club included Saliba spending this season on loan with the Ligue 1 side, with him making six appearances in all competitions so far.He will return to the Emirates next summer, but it seems the Gunners may have to fight off interest in him before he’s even played a game for the club.Defensa Central, a Real Madrid fan website, have an exclusive this weekend that states the club have Saliba on their list of potential targets.Embed from Getty ImagesThe website claims sources close to the club have told them Zinedine Zidane has asked Madrid to ‘closely monitor’ three players in Ligue 1 as they look for ‘the new Varane’.One of those is Saliba, who they claim ‘remains on the Madrid agenda’ despite his move to the Emirates this summer. It’s not stated that they will be making a move, but Zidane has reportedly asked Madrid ‘to push’ for his signing, suggesting that a potential effort could be on the cards.Of course, the claim should be taken with a pinch of salt given the nature of the source, but given Madrid were interested in the past and Saliba has been widely regarded as the next Varane, there could be some truth to it.Arsenal are unlikely to even consider any approach, especially given they only signed him this summer, but that’s unlikely to stop Madrid if this interest is genuine.by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayForge of Empires – Free Online GameIf You Like to Play, this Strategy Game is AddictiveForge of Empires – Free Online GameUndo聽多多 Hearmore.asia1969年前出生的香港居民現可免費試戴頂尖的歐洲助聽器聽多多 Hearmore.asiaUndoDating.comTop Successful Single Men in Tung ChungDating.comUndoCNN with DBS BankThe New Role Banks Are PlayingCNN with DBS BankUndoSmart Tech TrendEveryone with Bad Vision Needs Those Revolutionary Adjustable Glasses!Smart Tech TrendUndoHero WarsGetting this Treasure is impossible!
