Porters Lake Open House
The Department of Natural Resources will hold an open house atPorters Lake Provincial Park on Saturday, June 12. “Hurricane Juan severely impacted Porters Lake park,” saidNatural Resources Minister Richard Hurlburt. “Due to the amountof site damage and the need to reconstruct the park, we havedecided to keep the park closed for the 2004 season. The June 12open house will give Nova Scotians an opportunity to see first-hand what changes have taken place.” The public is invited to visit the park between 10 a.m. and 2p.m. to view the damage and discuss redevelopment plans for thecamping and day-use areas with department staff. “Trees that had been damaged have subsequently been removed,”said Mr. Hurlburt. “The changes, however, provide us with newpark opportunities such as highlighting view planes of the lakeand providing walk-in campsites.” Porters Lake Provincial Park is located on West Porters Lake Roadand can be reached by taking Exit 19 off of Highway 107.
