The show takes place April 13th-16th in Orlando, Florida. Not only did the show just announce that Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill will be in attendance. But that almost all of the major creators of the Star Wars universe will be there as well. This includes Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy and The Last Jedi director, Rian Johnson. Also making an appearance this year is author Timothy Zahn, creator of the character Grand Admiral Thrawn. Recently this character has been ripped from the pages of Zahn’s books and brought to life in the animated series Star Wars: Rebels. The show recently ended its third season just this week, leaving fans with a two-part epic finale. We were able to see some of our favorite heroes and villains pit against each other (including Thrawn) in some of the biggest battles the series has ever had to offer. Luckily for us fans, Executive Producer of Star Wars: Rebels, Dave Filoni will be in attendance and is set to discuss where season 4 of the series is headed. Here is hoping Filoni brings some clips or an exclusive trailer with him to show off at this year’s event.Never before seen Rebels concept art from Filoni himself for an episode of Rebels Recon. The main focus right now is the next film in the main Star Wars Trilogy, The Last Jedi. We have not seen a single scene from the film, and it is due out in nine months. Most of the speculation I have heard is that we will get our first look at Celebration in April. Although, a few lucky attendees out at CinemaCon (which is taking place right now in Las Vegas, Nevada) were said to have had a glimpse at what will be shown at this year’s Star Wars convention. According to ComicBook.com, the very short footage showed off Rey wielding a lightsaber and training with Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. The site assumes these quick shots included in a sizzle reel were taken from what will be shown at Celebration. An executive from Disney at CinemaCon took to the stage and mentioned Star Wars briefly saying “Star Wars: The Last Jedi will pick up right where The Force Awakens left off,” Dave Hollis said. “Virtually all of our cast are back.”Meanwhile in the gaming community, fans of the popular Star Wars: Battlefront game series are chomping at the bit for EA to announce a sequel to its 2015 successor. Luckily for us, EA confirmed today that they would be on hand at the show.“Commence primary ignition – the first trailer for Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II is imminent. On April 15 at 2:30 PM ET/11:30 AM PT at Star Wars Celebration, we’ll be presenting during the “The Galaxywide Premiere of Star Wars Battlefront II” panel. Not able to attend in person? You’ll still be able to watch online. Join the award-winning developers from DICE, Criterion, and Motive as they offer a glimpse at the game and debut the first trailer.”Photo Courtesy of StarWars.comRecently Jordan Maison of Cinelinx tweeted that the upcoming event’s gaming presentation will focus mainly on the Battlefront sequel. It’s rumored at the moment that the game will finally include a story mode. When the first Battlefront released, Force Awakens star John Boyega tweeted the developers at EA asking “Will fans get a full on offline story mode? It’s more of an enjoyable way to learn controls.”The company then mentioned their mission mode (which is not much of a story) back to Boyega. His response, “Yeah thought it was great! But definitely, leaves you wanting to engage within a narrative.” With the outcries from fans and the stars themselves from the films wanting an offline story mode, I think we may just see one in a few weeks.Lastly, you cannot mention Star Wars without talking about the merchandise! The Star Wars Celebration exclusive merch has constantly been rolling out. Just the other day we received our first look at the pin sets that will be on hand at the show!Keep tuned into Geek.com all Celebration long where I will be on the show floor reporting all your day on announcements. I have to say; it is an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan.
